FAQ's about ODCP

Benefits the organization can look forward to from ODCP learning – through the current year and upon completion of the course.

Organisations sponsoring candidates derive the following benefits for the candidate and themselves:

  1. The commitment and motivational level of the candidate in terms self esteem, to partner in the designing the future of the Organisation will increase, and simultaneously creating a new awareness in other senior colleagues that the Organisation is keen on encouraging self and professional development of people who stay to learn new traits and competencies that support future leadership qualities.
  2. Upon completion of the course the candidate will substitute for an external OD consultant and bring in intangible savings in terms of consulting fee and offer continuity of development programmes and change initiatives. He/she will be trained to become an internal process consultant to facilitate productive senior level meetings. If the candidate is brilliant in acquiring the consulting skills she/he will be a ready made future leader from within, thus saving on recruitment costs and special training costs.
  3. The espoused values of OD are very profound and far reaching into the future. Therefore the candidates will be an internal change agent and an influencer of policy bringing objective analysis of facts and clinical in looking at assumptions behind impulsive decisions. They will be able to drive CSR initiatives and programmes with ease, and will design appropriate programmes and CSR teams to suit Company needs and SR objectives.
  4. In special cases where they specialize in coaching or training systems he/she will be an internal assessor and monitor to oversee the coaching and L&D programmes and anchor them on scientific lines.
  5. The net saving on training the individual through the same set of inputs from private consulting groups and cost of other logistics will be 50% of the programme fee paid for ODCP and in a year’s interval. The quality of the learning is higher as the same group from diverse experience and work background exchange notes and perceptions consistently over the year.

Break-up of the 50 days in terms of number of sessions a year, days per session & months of the year when these sessions would happen.

The programme is spread over 50 days of engagement with the System of ISABS, meaning the candidate should be present at residential locations prescribed for the various modules.

Module 1:

14 days between May to June: Inputs will comprise of - Experiential learning about self and inner potential; learning about perceptual and temperamental blocks by a deeper understanding of self: Instrumented and ‘T ‘group/ sensitivity training inputs in an ISABS event either national – or regional events based on dates to be announced by region.

Two day workshop on scoring and understanding the MBTI type and develop an SOM.

Sharing of experience from OD practitioners from ISABS and a broad introduction to the theory to be read during the inter module interval will be explained before the first module is over.

This will be followed by a two day session on discovering one’s cognitive map using various score results including MBTI and personal profile be drawn based on the assessment. This will be the equivalent of an assessment center.

Module 2:

One day written test in any convenient location in India and 12 days end August in Shimla. The written test for the whole day to answer select questions from an array of theoretical/ conceptual areas in OD and change management will be held at eh beginning of this module.. Other inputs will be on workshop mode three days each on the subjects of;
1)  Group development and understanding power of group dynamics.
2)  Systemic Consulting and Organisation Life Cycles.

  1. to learn the art of process consultation and steer group dynamics and group development processes essential for effective team work.
  2. to understand life cycles of organizations as a way to appreciate the current context and readiness to change of any kind. This diagnostic skill is essential when the Organisation decides on mergers acquisitions, restructuring, job rotations and movement of senior people with long years of association with the Company.

Module 3:

14 days in December 2008 in Bangalore: workshops on , Appreciative inquiry, Case writing method, Complex adaptive systems and design of future search conferences ending with a days preparation for inter-phase reading, contracting for shadow consulting and review earlier learning logs. This module sharpens the diagnostic skills and prepares for taking on mini project or Organisational study or OD audit during the ensuing months Jan and Feb 2009.

Module 4:

Five days of mini project work with any client system: basically to the stage of sensing, contracting and diagnosing the Organisational context and designing the first set of interventions. In the case of org study: preparing a study report about Organization’s changeability index or in case of an OD audit present a report about the process and impact of OD efforts undertaken by the Organisation.

Last day: Final assessment by external examiners – either in Bangalore or or other locations in May of following year.

Registration conditions, timelines & payment instructions to ensure I attend the course this year.

On receipt of e Nomination form from the www.isabsodcp.org website a selection process will be initiated by direct interviews or con-calls with the Project Director and supported by past batch candidates for eligibility and admission announced over phone and by mail later. The sponsorship from Organisation is ideal for committing on payment of fee and releasing the candidate for 50 days with pay to attend the learning and test modules during the full year.

The fee can be made one time as full fee on joining / admission granted, or in instalments of Rs1.00 lakh or 50K plus service tax - each before modules 2 , 3 and 4.

 

Preparation would you advise for me to ensure that I am sufficiently prepared for the ODCP.

Yes. Basic reading of select chapters of the following four books are recommended: (The cost of the same will be reimbursed when admitted in the programme after the module 3. )
