Sorabh will seem the “odd man out” in ODCP. He has a preference for the unconventional and a search for deeper meaning. Since early in his life, he was concerned with the disparity between the haves and the have-nots and the dramatic divide between the developing & the developed world. His graduation with an engineering degree coincided with the onset of the global internet revolution in mid-90’s. He envisioned then that technology would play a crucial role in bridging this gap. For the most part of a decade, he played an instrumental role in helping Fortune 500s in North America, Europe & Asia/Pacific region bring leading-edge 3G mobile services to market. His interest in getting first-hand experience with social issues led him to volunteer with various social organizations - Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New York, International Association for Human Values (IAHV), Association for Asian Americans, The Art of Living Foundation, Romanian American Enterprise Fund – a US Agency for International Development.
His diverse experiences began to dramatically alter his views about himself and the world around him. Understanding of the self and self-development became central to bringing change. This serendipitously brought him in touch with his roots – culture, heritage and wisdom of ancient India. In his spare time, he began facilitating self-development workshops using breathing/meditation techniques and group processes. He led various humanitarian efforts - including IAHV’s Hurricane Katrina Relief (2005) in Texas, USA, organizing one of the largest Human Values conference (2006) in India focused on Global Peace, fund-raising for Bihar Flood victims (2008), Trauma Relief Workshops for victims of Mumbai 26/11 (2008) blasts. In 2008, he led Marketing and Business Development activities of APEX, a Corporate Leadership Development Initiative of IAHV, in partnering with Learning & Development departments in introducing Managers and Executives of companies across India to powerful self-awareness programs.
Through the ODCP he intends to further his “inner” journey of understanding oneself and “outer” drive to become a worthy partner - a mirror to individuals and organizations so they are able to get in touch with their core values, and re-evaluate their beliefs, attitudes, and structure. S uch an organic and empowering approach can enable any organization to sustain and holistically adapt to new technologies, markets, and challenges in today’s world.
